China Islamic Association Holds Preaching Competition

The Al-Mo'had Islami Center affiliated to the Islamic Association of China is holding the seventh round of competition on preaching and giving sermons for Muslim clerics, prayer leaders and students of religious sciences. Mohammad-Reza Salih, Quranic researcher, told IQNA in a phone conversation that the competitions are held every two years with the aim of upgrading scientific level of clerics and prayer leaders at mosques in China. The preaching and sermon competition has been held at preliminary level in 28 provinces in China, he said, adding that a list comprising 175 individuals has been sent to the Islamic Association of China as top rivals for participating in the final step. Saleh further explained that 45 top rivals are Khui (the greatest Muslim tribe in China) and the others are Ayqor, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Salar. Names of the arbiters of the competition were announced by Halaleddin, head of the Islamic Association of China, at the inaugural ceremony of the event on June 16.
