Quran Contest for Armed Forces in Makkah


The 5th international Quran memorization competition for Islamic countries’ armed forces concluded in the holy city of Makkah on Saturday, Naseej website reported. Sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Amir Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, the week-long competition was attended by 69 Quran memorizers from the armies of 19 Islamic and Arabic countries. The participants competed in the categories of memorization of the entire holy Quran along with Tajweed, and memorization of 20, 10, and five sections (Joz) along with Tajweed. A Quranic research contest was also held on the sidelines of the event with themes like “Manners of Dialogue in the Quran” and “Spirituality and its Role in Achieving Victory”. Winners of various categories were awarded at the closing ceremony held Saturday night.
